You can use Freading to borrow ebooks for your Nook, Android, or iOS devices (sorry, Amazon does not allow Kindle lending on Freading). Books on Freading are always available, so you won't have to wait or place holds.

Tuesdays: Book Sale at Chicopee Falls Branch Library

Bargain books are available every Tuesday at the Chicopee Falls Branch Library. Hardcover books are 3 for $1.00, paperbacks are 5 for $1.00, audiobooks and videos are $1.00 each. Proceeds from the weekly book sale are used for children's programming and materials for crafts and story times.

January 30: E-Reader Open Lab

Come try our E-Readers before you buy one, or get help with the one you already have. No pre-registration required; just bring your device, instructions, and all the accessories it came with.

January 9: Read to Rover

Kids aged 5-10, come read to Charlie, our specially- trained canine friend! The "Read to Rover" program has shown that children who are learning to read feel more relaxed and less self-conscious when reading to animals. Reading to these specially trained dogs can enhance self-esteem by offering non-judgemental, non-threatening attention.

Free Genealogy Classes at the Chicopee Public Library

Genealogy classes begin Thursday, November 15. Space is available in the morning session from 10-11:30 AM. Please plan to attend all 4 weekly sessions. Taiwan Sublime ~ Four Photography Masters' Vision of the Treasure Island

Taiwan Sublime is comprised of four series of photographs taken by Taiwanese photographers who for many years have crisscrossed Taiwan and its smaller sister islands with the aim of creating a record of its natural and human wonders. Food Drive and Bake Sale for Lorraine's Soup Kitchen & Pantry

Mercy Medical Center will have their Bloodmobile in the Chicopee Public Library parking lot on Thursday December 2 from 10am ~ 2pm. Give a precious gift this holiday season. Harry Potter Movie Marathon- Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

In honor of the latest Harry Potter Movie "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" that is coming to theaters on November 19th, the library will be showing one movie each Wednesday at 6 pm in the Community Room. "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince " will be shown on November 17th. Come watch the movie on the big screen to get yourself ready for November. Feel free to dress up as your favorite character and come early (by 5:45) to play trivia games.

The Chicopee Public Library will be accepting donations to benefit the Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center during the month of April. We have a copy of their "wish list" at the library (Also available from their website). The list includes food, toys, leashes, collars, bedding, and many other items for dogs and cats.

Ames Swords now on display

The Ames Swords, manufactured by the Ames Manufacturing Co. of Chicopee, MA are now on display in the lower level near the reference desk. The Ames Co. made swords for the army and navy during the Civil War and also made the bronze doors to the Capital building in Washington, DC

The Chicopee Public Library is now offering Encyclopedia Britannica online to its patrons. The Encyclopedia is the same information as the print but enhanced with more images and videos. The encyclopedia is integrated with Merriam-Webster's dictionary and contains the Compton's (Children's encyclopedia) as well as the adult version! Access it today!!
