Food for Thought: The Origins of Massachusetts Foods and Why it Matters

Food for Thought: The origins of Massachusetts foods and why it matters is a traveling exhibit brought to us by the Commonwealth Museum. There are 15 panels currently on display in the Library's upper and lower levels. The exhibit seeks to educate viewers about the history of food in Massachusetts. It explores the origin of popular foods, explains how they arrived in the Commonwealth and were later cultivated. It covers everything from apples, Boston Baked Beans, Indian Pudding and pumpkin pie to culture clashes, changing landscapes and holiday traditions. You can also view the traveling exhibit on the Commonwealth Museum website
