A patron can be asked to leave the library for the rest of the day or can be suspended from the library for more  than one day for violations of the Patron Behavior Policy. 

1. Patrons will be suspended if other informal approaches by library staff are not effective. Generally, patrons will be given a warning before being asked to leave the property for the rest of the day, but serious violations of the Patron Behavior Policy may result in an immediate request to leave the library or suspension. 
2. If you are suspended from the library, you may not come to the library or any of its property for the entire length of the suspension. 
3. Suspension from the library will be determined by the Library Director or their representative. 
4. The Library Director will send a letter to you or, if you are under the age of 18, to your parent or guardian.  The letter will give the specific terms of the suspension. The length of suspension can be 14 days, 30 days, or 90 days and will be determined on a case-by-case basis. If a child up to age 18 is suspended, the letter may allow for the parent or guardian to accompany and supervise the child while using the Library during  the suspension period. This will be noted in the letter. 
5. A copy of the letter will be distributed to library staff and might be forwarded to the law department, police department, or school department, if necessary. 
6. If you attempt to visit the library during your suspension, this may result in an extension of the length of time of your suspension, a request for immediate departure, or contact with the Chicopee Police Department for issue of a Notice of Trespass. 
7. If you wish to appeal your suspension, you must submit a letter in writing one week prior to a scheduled Board of Trustees meeting. During an appeal, the Board of Trustees will review the circumstances and, at its discretion, will either uphold or change the suspension. The decision of the Board of Trustees will be final.
