Welcome to the Chicopee Public Library. We strive to create a space where all are welcome and ask that all visitors use the library in a way that respects the rights of the staff and other patrons.
When in library spaces, you are welcome to:
- Use our computers and library materials
- Check out items with your library card for use at home
- Speak in a volume appropriate for private conversation
- Use your cell phone quickly and quietly. If your call is disruptive, we may ask you to take your call outside.
- Ask library staff for help with library-related questions and activities
- Attend library programs and participate in other library activities
- Eat or drink in designated areas.
- Lock up your bikes, scooters, skateboards etc. outside the library
(We have bike locks that you can borrow.)
We require that you:
- Are respectful of staff and patrons
- Set your cell phone to vibrate or silent
- Keep conversations at a low volume and use headphones or earbuds for audio devices
- Throw your trash away in the trash cans located throughout the building
- Are fully clothed, including shirt and shoes
The following are prohibited on library property:
- Any activity prohibited by federal, state, or local laws
- Any activity that may prevent patrons from using the library or staff from conducting their work
- The use of alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, or vape devices
- Physical violence or threats
- Language that is loud, abusive, threatening, or insulting
- Activities that may result in damage to library property
- Use of our bathrooms for bathing or laundry
- Entering areas marked “Staff Only” without permission
- Solicitation – This includes selling or attempting to sell things, asking for money, doing surveys, or canvassing
